Anti-Racism protests in the USA will be discussed at Near East University

At the seminar to be organized in cooperation with the Near East Institute and NEU American Corner, “Black Lives Matter” actions, one of the agendas that marked 2020, will be discussed.
“Black Lives Matter” (Black Lives Are Also Valuable), which has turned into a civil society movement after the murder of a black citizen by the police in 2013, was founded against the violence and racism against the people of African-American origin, will be discussed at the seminar to be held at the Near East University.

The Black Lives Matter Movement will be discussed in the third session of the online seminar series to be held during the 2020-2021 academic year, in cooperation with the Near East Institute, NEU American Corner and Near East University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The socio-economic aspects of the issue will be discussed in the context of the Civil Rights Movement led by Martin Luther King, which left its mark on the 20th century.

Black Lives Matter Movement
The Black Lives Matter Movement began after police officer George Zimmerman, who shot and killed an unarmed young black boy, Trayvon Martin in 2013, was found not guilty in the trial. The protests that started in the USA and spread all over the world after George Floyd, a black citizen, was killed by a police officer in 2020, made the movement stand out even more strongly. Despite the warnings about the coronavirus in 2020, protesters held protests all over the world against racism in the USA and their own countries. Police officer Derek Chauvin, who was accused of murdering George Floyd, is on trial, and Chauvin faces up to 40 years in prison, which began last week.
