Autumn 2021 Internships

Research Internship - Middle East (x1)

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must be a student enrolled, during the internship in a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in one of the following areas: International Relations, Political Science or related disciplines.

DURATION: Three months, from November 2021 to January 2022.

REQUIREMENTS: Strong interest in and knowledge of the historical, political, social and economic dynamics of the Middle East; Knowledge of and/or strong interest in one or more of the following topics would be an asset: geopolitical and conflict dynamics in the Middle East; migration, gender, peace and security; diplomacy and peace-building; Proficiency in English (spoken and written); Knowledge of a language spoken in the region (Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi); Ability to analyse, summarise and write short notes and articles; good computer skills (Office package, Web);

DEADLINE: Candidates must apply by 15 October 2021 by e-mail at nei@neu.edu.tr Applications must include a CV. Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview to be held on the first week of November 2021 at the Near East Institute.

ACTIVITIES: The intern will be asked to carry out research (using different sources: web, specialised journals, press, official documents) and in-depth studies, presenting, when requested, briefs/ memos for internal use. Interns will also be asked to contribute to the blog of the Near East Institute; Alongside research, the intern must be available to perform other tasks necessary for the implementation of relevant research projects (translations, gathering of documentation etc.). The intern will also participate in conferences and seminars organised by the Institute.

Research Internship – African Politics (x1)
